Free Consultation & Scope Assessment
We start with a free 15-minute call to understand the current state of your books — how far behind you are, how many accounts are involved, whether you have existing QuickBooks data, and your end goal (tax filing, loan application, monthly bookkeeping, etc.). This helps us estimate scope, timeline, and cost.
QuickBooks Account Review
Once we access your QuickBooks Online account (or bank statements if QBO isn't set up yet), we conduct a thorough review to identify miscategorized transactions, unreconciled months, incorrect opening balances, duplicate entries, and chart of accounts issues.
Cleanup Proposal With Fixed Price
Based on our review, you receive a detailed cleanup proposal with the specific work, estimated timeline, and a fixed project price. You know exactly what you're paying before work begins — no hourly surprises.
Cleanup Execution
We work through your books month by month, account by account — categorizing transactions, reconciling statements, correcting errors, and restructuring your chart of accounts. Most cleanups are completed within 4–8 weeks.
Final Review & Handoff
Once complete, we deliver your clean, reconciled financial statements and walk you through the results. From there, you can transition to monthly bookkeeping with us from a clean starting point, or manage your own books with our QuickBooks training to support you.

FAQs About Bookkeeping Cleanup
Bookkeeping cleanup projects at Loveland Bookkeeping are quoted at a fixed project price based on the scope of work. Typical ranges are $300 to $600 for light cleanups (1 to 3 months behind), $600 to $1,200 for moderate cleanups (4 to 6 months behind), $1,200 to $2,500 for extensive cleanups (6 to 12 months behind), and $2,500 or more for major reconstructions involving more than a year of backlogged or incorrect records. Your actual cost depends on the number of accounts, transaction volume, and complexity of corrections needed. We provide a firm quote after reviewing your situation during a free consultation.
At minimum, we need read/write access to your QuickBooks Online account (or we can set one up for you) and your bank and credit card statements for the cleanup period. Most banks allow you to download statements as PDFs or CSV files directly from online banking. If you have additional documentation like invoices, receipts, or prior tax returns, those can be helpful but are not required to begin.
Most cleanup projects are completed within four to eight weeks. Simpler projects involving a few months of backlogged transactions can often be done in four weeks. More complex cleanups involving a year or more of corrections may take six to eight weeks. If you have a tax-season deadline or loan application timeline, let us know during your consultation, and we will discuss options for expedited service.
There is no limit. We have cleaned up books for businesses that were three months behind, one year behind, and multiple years behind. Regardless of how long it has been, we can reconstruct your financial records from bank and credit card statements and bring everything into QuickBooks Online accurately. The further behind your books are, the longer the project will take and the higher the cost, but there is no such thing as too far gone.
Not necessarily. If you do not currently have a QuickBooks Online account, we can set one up for you as part of the cleanup process. We will configure your chart of accounts, connect your bank feeds, and enter all historical transactions so you have a complete, organized financial history from the start.
If you contact us well before your filing deadline, we can usually complete a cleanup in time for tax season. For clients with tight deadlines, we offer priority cleanup service. The sooner you reach out, the more flexibility we have with scheduling. If you are already past the deadline or facing an extension, a cleanup can still be done to prepare for the amended or extended filing.
Once your cleanup is complete, you receive accurate, reconciled financial statements (Profit and Loss and Balance Sheet) for the entire cleanup period. From there, you can transition to our monthly bookkeeping service to maintain accuracy going forward, schedule QuickBooks training to manage your own books confidently, or arrange periodic check-ups with us to verify your records quarterly or semi-annually.
